As technology makes the discovery, extraction, creation, and transport/transmission of energy more productive and less expensive, more energy is available and more private actors are involved in the business of energy. At the same time, in some countries the involvement of the private sector in the business of energy is contracting and governments take a more active and central role. Some of these governments have a shown a willingness to heavily subsidize their energy activities. This talk explores how these changes dynamically affect how business firms operate and interact, and how these changes are reflected in broader global trends.
