Investment Idea Pitch Dinner

Join Wharton Energy Network members for an energy investing idea dinner – everyone brings an investment idea for discussion. Ideas can be from any subsector or asset class related to energy – from start up venture capital to BP stock options.

1st Annual Energy Investing Idea Dinner

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Let’s discuss where to invest in the energy sector. From upstream oil exploration to downstream petrochemicals, solar project finance, private coal leases, or natural gas futures trades, there are a wide variety of ways for individuals and institutions to invest in the energy sector. Join other Wharton Energy Network members for an invigorating (and hopefully profitable!) discussion on today’s investment opportunities.

Every attendee should prepare a short 1-2 page investment summary, discussing the opportunity, and will briefly explain the idea to the group. We’ll go around the table and discuss everyone’s ideas while enjoying a meal.

Ideas can come from any subsector of energy (E&P, oil service, downstream, coal, alternative energy, utilities, transportation, etc.) and across all asset classes (public equity, credit, futures, private equity, venture capital, etc.). Other than the idea being energy related, there are no restrictions – we’ll have a great discussion about a variety of investment opportunities.

The 1-2 page write up should generally include the following:

  • Idea summary
  • Sector & subsector
  • Relevant financial highlights - e.g. asset value, revenue, earnings potential
    • market cap, P/E, etc. for public companies
  • Risk / reward
  • Execution strategy – e.g. short XOM stock, or invest $1M in my start-up solar venture
  • Any other relevant investment highlights

Date: Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Time:  7:00 PM

Location: TBD

Cost: No registration costs, but attendees will cover their own dinner costs.

RSVP: please RSVP to Michael Dworkis (mdworkis at scopiacapital.com) to confirm your attendance and submit your investment summary. We’ll bring copies of all the investment summaries to the dinner.
